Lyme disease symptoms

Lyme disease was coined Lyme because it was first reported in three Connecticut towns, including Lyme and Old Lyme, in 1975. It was originally thought to be juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in these three towns.




Lyme disease symptoms:

Stage 1	Early localised stage: weeks post infection	Malaise, fatigue and myalgias Erythema chronicum migrans: large expanding non-pruritic bulls-eye lesion at bite on groin/thigh/axilla
Stage 2	Early disseminated stage: weeks to months post infection	Multiple smaller erythema chronicum migrans CNS: aseptic meningitis, CN palsies(CN VII), peripheral neuritis Cardiac: transient heart block or myocarditis Muskeloskeletal: arthritis
Stage 3	Chronic: months to years post infection	Chronic arthritis Acrodermatitis chronicum atrophicans Neurologic: encephalopathy, meningitis, neuropathy
