There is no specific medicine for rheumatoid arthritis, and the therapy is based on reducing the symptoms of a disease and prevention of development of deformity and disability.

Forecast and the progress of rheumatoid arthritis are variable, and in spite of proper treatment over 10% of patients remain severely disabled.
