Heat therapy is often used as self-help in a number of conditions, primarily to resolve the symptoms of acute or chronic pain, especially one that is associated with tension or spasm of muscles. Often is used to alleviate problems with arthritis, bursitis and other painful syndromes of the joints.
Types of arthritis in which heat helps are: rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis / juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, gout, psoriatic arthritis, Reiter's syndrome. Often the application of heat helps with back pain caused by protrusion of inter vertebral disc, because it relives painful spasm of surrounding muscles. Stiff neck, painful shoulders, tennis elbow, inflamed tendon ...these are the states in which heat significantly facilitates the problems. Of course, heat must be defined in terms of strength, length of duration, extrae humidity.
